1974 Austin Vanden Plas 1500 Auto
(Featured on 27th May 2013)
Model: Vanden Plas
Sellers original description:
This Vanden Plas has recently been recommissioned having been stored for 15 years in a nice warm, dry garage. Last tax disc expired in 1997.
This car has just 21,400 miles from new and has had only 1 previous lady owner from new.
The interior is near mint and has that wonderful '70's car smell. Carpets look and feel brand new, the seats are all good and have no damage, the wooden dash is clean and undamaged too.
Exterior is nice and shiny and the chrome is very good and all trims and hubcaps are present and in good condition.
There are no obvious signs that this car has ever been welded. The underside is clean and rot free and the sills look original and solid.
Engine bay is nice and clean and is commensurate with a car with such low mileage.
It has a new Dunlop spare and the jack kit is complete too right down to the lever to remove the chrome hub caps.
It comes with 2 VDP owners handbooks, the original Passport to Service book and a current MOT until 26/2/2014.
In February it had £600 spent on recommissioning . New oil and filter, points and condenser, suspension re-gas and a brake overhaul. A new battery and half a tank of fresh fuel. It also just had a new steering rack and new master cylinder seals.
As with any classic, there are always little jobs to do to improve a car. There are a few blemishes on the coachwork, but nothing major. Oh and the clock isn't working.
All in all a fantastic piece of motoring history in remarkable unrestored condition.
Ready for the summer season. Drive and enjoy.
