Sellers original description:
Just 39000 miles since new!!
One of the best unrestored Jaguar/Daimler Series 3s around, this very low mileage example in Silversand metallic has had the benefit of two years at the hands of a fastidious owner who spared no expense bringing the car up to near-concours condition inside and out.
It drives beautifully and all systems are operational. The previous owner consistently achieved better than 20mpg with moderate driving. The car is set for years of trouble-free luxury motoring.
It was acquired in 2009 from Hurst Park Automobiles of East Molesey and was then subject to thorough examination. Brakes were stripped and rebuilt and the opportunity was taken to replace all discs, rear shocks and springs. A Bell stainless-steel exhaust system is fitted.
Although a (rare) virtually rust-free example, the car received extensive anti-corrosion treatment by XJ Restorations of Eastbourne. Rear window removed for elimination of rust spots, anti-corrosion treatment and respraying.
Doeskin hide upholstery, interior trim and controls are all in superb condition.
The engine was stripped and rebuilt by Brown's Lane experts CFS Motors of Coventry because of concern over a possible oilway blockage. New crank- and big-end shells were fitted along with new idler gear, valve springs and distributor drive. Camshafts, cylinders, pistons and valves were in good order. Bores honed, new rings fitted and valves lapped.
This fine example of an iconic British luxury car is a credit to its former owners, right from first registration as a steel company director's personal transport in 1983. Winner of the East Sussex Jaguar Owners' Club "Bonnets Up" award 2011; featured in the "Xclusively Jaguar" 2011 calendar.
