1979 Talbot Sunbeam Trio
(Featured on 10th July 2013)
Registration: JRT 519V
Sellers original description:
The Talbot (Chrysler) Sunbeam was an iconic car of the late 1970's, helped in no small part by the incredible rallying success of the Sunbeam Lotus which is where the Sumbeam Trio traces it's heritage.
Finished in Moonstone Blue, this was the forerunner of Series 2 Sunbeam Lotus colour scheme, a car that has survived because most "standard" Sunbeams have donated their shells to rotten or bent Lotus Sunbeams!
JRT519V is powered by the smooth, spritely, & surprisingly efficient 1.3 engine that was used in the Avenger (The Sunbeam is a shortened Avenger chassis), and has only 2 previous keepers. There is lots of history available with this exceptional vehicle which has covered only 67,000 miles, an average of less than 2000 miles a year!
This car has been in the ownership of Avenger & Sunbeam Owners Club ( www.asoc.co.uk ) members car for he majority of it's life.
In 2012 a 12 month restoration was undertaken with meticulous attention to detail. The front panel was replaced along with both front wings. The bonnet & sills were also replaced in addition to the lower rear arch corners, all finished to an incredibly high standard.
Once the panels were replaced the car was fully resprayed in the correct Moonstone Blue and the unique "Trio" side decals were applied (supplied by A.S.O.C.).
The original "Piccadilly" interior was then refitted. This is in good condition, though to make concourse I would get these recovered. The original "Piccadilly" cloth is only available through the A.S.O.C.
These cars are beyond rare, there are only 6 known left in existence, 4 of those are SORN, so one of only 2 on the road!
JRT519V starts and runs beautifully, no gearbox whines, just a fantastic drive. Driving this will take you back to a different era, just fantastic.
