Sellers original description:

This outstanding Triumph GT6 is without doubt one of the best examples we have seen in recent years. The car was built on the 9th August 1972 as a RHD home market car with the desirable optional extra of overdrive. KVF 422L was dispatched on the 7th November 1972 and first registered on the 5th March 1973. The GT6 was sold new by Duff Morgan Vermont Ltd, Norwich and still retains its original Norfolk registration mark.

Several years ago this Triumph GT6 was subject of a major restoration. We have photographs of a bare shell rebuild with the body off the chassis. The chassis was painted Red matching the body and restored from the ground up to a very high standard. Photographs show the shell without front end and various stages of the major rebuild. A brand new bonnet was fitted to the car and all glass and brightwork replaced. The interior was totally re-trimmed and the car mechanically overhauled. In 2009 after rebuild, the Triumph was entered into a Triumph Club Concours event and finished third.

Just a few years after rebuild, the GT6 changed hands in late 2011 and over the past two years a further £9,000 has been spent taking this car to the next level. In the few years since rebuild, the car was mainly used for shows and covered very little mileage. When changing hands to someone who wanted to really use the car, some further modifications were made. The seats were found to be uncomfortable so a pair high quality correct leather black leather seats with red piping were fitted. The car had a complete suspension overhaul with new springs and Gaz adjustable shocks fitted. The suspension was totally re-bushed and the steering mounts replaced. Due to lack of use, the rebuilt engine had a valve issue so the head was removed and the head rebuilt as necessary. The gearbox and differential were rebuilt at the time of major rebuild are in excellent order with a perfect working overdrive. Final adjustments so often required after a major rebuild were made and once the car was fully prepared, the last owner began to use the car with full confidence covering over 2000 miles.

KVF 442L presents beautifully with a fabulous paint finish on an exceptionally clean, rust free body. The painted underbody is outstanding, the panel fit excellent and panels beautiful and ripple free. The body is first class and with new chrome, wheels and exterior trim, the car is stunning. The interior is equally as impressive with stunning walnut, a Motolita steering wheel, perfect leather seats, door cards, headlining and carpets. The engine bay is beautifully detailed and the engine super clean. As expected after the recent work, the car is a true delight to drive with a strong engine holding excellent oil pressure. The GT6 handles and brakes superbly, the gearbox is lovely to use and the car now has proven reliability since rebuild. This car is ideal for shows, regular use and long distance touring and restoring a GT6 to this standard would cost substantially more than we are asking. A great find.
